Write Up:
Siler Bald located in the western great smokey mountains with 5607’ elevation. We started our hike from Winding Star Gap through AT and had lunch break on the grassy summit with a tremendous 360 degree view. The weather was great and clear so you could look to the North to see the lookout tower at Wayah Bald, look to the West to see a small portion of Nantahala Lake, Snowbird and Chilhowee Mountains. Looking South you could see Standing Indian mountain, Albert mountain, Brasstown Bald and on into Georgia. The timing couldn’t be better than this, rain started when we got to parking lot and into the cars. Thanks to carpool volunteer drivers Ann howard, Aaron and Christa.
