We had a good hike today on a warm, humid morning.  After some parking challenges (where did all these people come from), we began our hike by attacking Pigeon Hill for a good warm up.  We circled around to the south on the Brumby Trail and briefly visited the site of the New Salem Church.  We continued along the New Salem Church Trail to Noses Creek where we briefly stopped for water.  As we proceed on our figure eight hike using the Noses Creek and Hardage Mill trails, we viewed many civil war era fortifications including two forts and several other artillery emplacements.  We finished back at our cars at the conclusion of our 5 mile, 750 foot elevation gain hike in about 2 hours.

A special welcome to Regina who was completing her 5 event with the club.  We look forward to seeing you on future AOC events.  ~ Holt
