Just four of us on today's hike, but it gave us all the opportunity to hear all the conversation throughout the hour and a half on the trail. We did the 2.1 mile loop, but we know there are possibilities for much longer, more strenulous hikes throughout the park. There are trails everywhere!

We met two gentlemen in the parking lot who turned out to be friends of Charlie Cottingham's from the Atlanta Ski Club. One of them provided an in-depth history of Simpsonwood and how the property was almost sold as a huge residential complex. How lucky that Gwinnett County bought the former Conference Center, demolished the Center, and dedicated the property as a county park!

Simpsonwood has a bathroom, plenty of deer, enormous trees, views of the Chattahoochee, and an little chapel (now used as a wedding venue). It's definitely a park worth further exploration.  ~  Joyce
