On this hike we met THE George Owen, founding member, designer, and builder of the Benton MacKaye Trail.  What a delight!  George noted that he is also a developer of the Duncan Ridge Trail.  He told us it was his first trail, that he made a lot of mistakes and was sorry AND since then has corrected some of the DRT and added it to the BMT.  We had a good laugh about the DRT (dirty rotten trail).  It was nice to see him on the trails.  BMT was opened on 7/16/2005 and is 300 miles long.  We had a good weather hike, moving along Rocky and Tray, above the snow line and making our way back.  A happy hiking group.  Lots of folks on trail.  AND alot of ladybugs....tis the season.  

Facts and figures: 10.7 miles and 3500 feet of elevation gain.
