Write Up:

Well we all wanted to get out on a beautiful day and this short, 3 mile walk around and near Powers Island was just the ticket for a Sunday morning.  We first headed upstream about half a mile before starting our climb up the biggest hill of the day.  We stopped half way up the climb to view an area with signs of uses in the previous century.

We did a bit of bushwhacking around the top of the ridge before heading back down to the river level and began heading upstream.  We viewed several old stone walls that are further signs of former residents and then headed down to Powers Island itself.  We hiked the trail around the entire island but had to bushwhack a bit due to the trail having been washed out.  We finished back at the cars in about 1.5 hours.  ~ Holt
