Write Up:

We took advantage of Sunday's mid-60s blue-sky weather and had a good time together on this ~7-mile "off-the-beaten-path" circuit of Stone Mtn that included numerous "hidden gems."  Among them...the Songbird Habitat Trail, the lovely creekside trail that connects from it down to the Cherokee Trail, the eastern shoulder of the mountain between the old Railroad Yard and the outdoor Quarry Museum, the old Grist Mill, the "American Pen Women" loop trail in the shadow of the steepest part of the mounain near Confederate carving, and the "Carillon peninsula trail" by the marina. Had a great sighting of about a half dozen whitetail deer on the east side of the mountain! -Submitted by Charlie, Sun evening Jan 6th
