It will come as no surprise that General Beauregard Lee, Georgia's Official Weather Prognosticator, called for 6 more weeks of winter. How could he not have seen his shadow on such a gorgeous sunny day? If a late spring is the price we have to pay for a day like this, we'll take it. We had a solid, cohesive group of hikers reveling in the sunshine and 60 degree February day. Sharing a few moments of stillness and contemplation, overlooking the rushing waterfall off the beaten path, was well worth the steep climb to get back to the main trail.

We marveled at the winter views, especially the welcome sight of the Hike Inn peeking through the trees as we approached. Refreshing lemonade, hot coffee, and Dominic's homemade poundcake fortified us for the second half of our journey. 

This may be one of those days that we wouldn't mind reliving.
