What a beautiful day full of sunshine for our hike at Vineyard Mountain.  We were challenged by plenty of short steep hills along the way as we moved our way from the trailhead near Bethany Bridge towards the Allatoona Dam.  We took a break at the dam overlook before visiting the first of two iron mines we visited.  On the return hike back we took an old woods road down towards the lake front before detouring to visit the second iron ore mine which we were able to walk through.  We finally reached the parking lot and the end of our 5.5 mile, 1000 foot elevation gain hike. ~ Holt
