Write Up:

We had an unforgettable good time with our Atlanta Audubon Society friends this morning on this leisurely birdwatching walk around the big lake at Murphey Candler Park.  The spring weather was crystal clear - though a bit chilly at first - and we jointly observed & identified more than 25 different species of amazing wild birds.  Among our favorites were colorful woodpeckers, robins, cardinals, bluebirds, yellow-rump warblers, and fish crows - also plenty of ducks & geese and a few large hawks.
Our friendly Audubon hosts Mary and her husband Gavin - both experts at identifying birds both by sight and sound - did a fine job spotting the harder-to-find birds and making sure we all got to see and hear them.  Several other veteran birders (including "Andy, Tom, and Dick") likewise did an amazing job helping everyone spot the birds and sharing their knowledge of their habits & preferred habitats.
Thanks to Alison for joining our fine Club last week and choosing this "Audubon field trip participation" as her first outing with us!
