Write Up:

We had a full crew of 20 hikers for our hike on the Noses Creek and Hardage Mill trails in Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.  The weather was comfortable and the group stayed together.  We first headed out the Hardage Mill trail all the way to Noses Creek.  After crossing the creek, we continued on our figure 8 route by hiking up the Noses Creek trail all the way to the Dallas Highway.  From there it was back onto the Hardage Mill trail reaching the creek once again and then back onto the Hardage mill trail.  We diverted onto the New Salem Church trail before arriving at the most dangerous part of the hike (namely, crossing as a group the very busy Burnt Hickory Road.  We headed up Pigeon Hill where we learned a bit about the Union assault up the hill during the civil war battle of June 1864.  One final descent down Pigeon Hill and back to the cars and the end of our hike.

The group for our hike was strong and we ended up completing our 5 mile, nearly 800 ft elevation gain hike about 10 minutes early.  A special welcome to a brand new member of the AOC, Carter W.  hiking with us on his very first club event.  Carter, we look forward to seeing you again on an AOC event.  ~  Holt
