It was a hot 89 degree afternoon, as the group was gathering before the hike started, Jim and Abe noticed dark clouds coming in, and we started spotting a rain drop or two.  The forecast only had a 10% chance of rain, so we weren't worried...

We began our hike and within a 1/4 mile into it the skies opened up and let us have it!  Jim was the first to take cover under the I75 overpass.  As the rest of the group caught up, it appeared this downpour wasn't the typical quick 5 minute here-then-gone type rain we frequently get in GA.  Nope, this large-drop big rain stuck around for a good half-hour, soaking the group to our bones.  Along with 11 soaked people and 4 wet dogs (see the pictures) the rain cooled the temperature down significantly, making the rest of the hike very enjoyable.

We had a few new members on our hike, congrats to Abe, Meagan, Michael, and Shavonne for completing their first AOC event (this was Shavonne's 2nd), we hiked a total of 5.09 miles with a total elevation gain of about 1,000 feet!  NOT BAD FOR IN TOWN!!
