Write Up:
It was a very rainy day all day today, so many cancelled out or just assumed that we wouldn't go.  Well, these hikes are rain or shine and this evening it wasn't shine, so eight of us hiked it anyway.  There was some thunder at the very beginning but it was north of us and moving out of the area, so we decided to go for it.  It was a strong and fast group today so the pace stepped up to over 3mph and didn't go below that - only up.  We had a couple of people running late and trying to catch up to us, but we didn't run into them until on the way back down Little Kennesaw after we did the small loop on top including a stop at General French's rock.

To learn more about General French's Rock from General French himself, just google ("General French" "Kennesaw Mountain"), then you should see a link entitled: "Battles and sketches of the Army of Tennessee - Google Books Result".  Click on that and it will show you pages in a book that were taken from General French's writings about the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain.  He mentions the rock.

When we got back to the Mountain Road coming up Big Kennesaw from Little Kennesaw we were suddenly inside of a dense cloud, and it was still raining a bit.  Once over the top and starting back down it began to rain heavier, but everyone's spirits were still high.  We synched back up at the visitors center and counted heads.  Still had eight, so we were good.  Seems like everyone had a good time and were glad they did the hike.
