Write Up:This day started out with a full parking lot at Unicoi Gap. After the group briefing we
started the climb up Rocky. I used the Kennesaw method - the front takes off. The
remaining of us kept a tight line. We took lunch at the out crop that gave us afforded
views to the East. Soon as we finished lunch, we heard a rumble of thunder which later
came a refreshing rain shower as we took the backside climb of Rocky. The rain
dropped the temps and brought in a cool breeze. The return hike split into 3 groups
which was fine, everyone hiked their own hike with plenty of smiles. Mary Kay spotted a
Copperhead just inches off the trail. The old Appalachians say if you step on one it's a
sure cure for the constipation. After that - I was mindful keeping my feet on the trail and
letting the wildlife have its territory! It was nice to meet Laura S.
