We had 10 energetic hikers for our event today at Kennesaw Mountain.  Today we hiked a double loop using the Noses Creek, Hardage Mill, New Salem Church and Pigeon Hill trails.  We headed out Noses Creek to Hardage Mill trail and quickly reached the Noses Creek Bridge. Then we continued heading up the hill and stopped briefly upon reaching Dallas Highway.  Then we started heading north again, and observed several impressive sets of earthwork fortifications and artillery batteries.  After crossing over Noses creek a second time, we headed towards the site of the former New Salem Church.  We crossed Burnt Hickory and did a loop up and over Pigeon Hill before decending down to the parking lot and the end of our hike.  The group was strong so our pace was a little faster than normal which also allowed us to add a bit of extra distance to the planned hike and we clocked in a little under 5.5 miles in 2 hours. ~  Holt
