We welcomed a brand new couple into the AOC today on our Charleston Park hike - - Eileen and John. Hopefully, they'll join us on many more outdoor excursions.

The trails at Charleston Park were still quite wet after the weekend rain, so that we had to skirt several little puddles and muddy patches on the trail. And the sun never peeped through the overcast sky during our hike; but staying warm wasn't a problem. It rarely is when there are constant rolling hills to challenge the heart and lungs.

Though the park is open to mountain bikers, we saw only a few this morning. And other than a few hikers as we got onto the outer look, we had the trails to ourselves. Our route was not what I had originally planned, but it really didn't matter. We had lots of views of Lake Lanier and we got lost only for a little while as I led the group where Michelle said not to go. She was right! Our hike was a back and forth rather than a loop, but no one minded.

We got in over 6 miles and enjoyed a picnic lunch together after finishing. ~ Joyce
