Write Up:
Big Kennesaw was shrouded in fog this morning and we hiked right into it.  The view from the top was outstanding :-)  We remained in the fog until we came down off of Little Kennesaw.  After a short break at Burnt Hickory Road, we headed out towards Cheatham's Hill by taking the harder route to the right.  Glad we did else we might have missed the half a dozen or so deer by the trail.  The sun came out as we crossed the fields towards the Illinois monument.  It took us less than two hours to reach the monument which means we averaged more than a 2.5 mph pace.  Not tarrying long at all, we headed back and took the straight path to Noses Creek then took the trail to the right that heads up a couple of small hills.  Bypassing Pigeon Hill we headed back up Little Kennesaw and began to really pour it on.  We were back at the visitor's center at 11:30 which was 30 minutes ahead of plan.  I think we averaged more than a 3.0 mph pace on the way back.  It was a fun hike today with a very strong group.  The deer we saw and the foggy to sunny transition made it exceptionally nice.
