This was a doubly special day: Diane's 100th AOC event and Luisa's birthday! And it was a beautiful morning for a celebration! The air was clear, the deep blue sky cloudless, the temperature cool, and the trails clear.

We were fortunate in the route we took, saving the new trail till the end, because we saw three sawyers working their way there as we were close to the U.S. 41 parking lot. We heard saws in the distance, and when we finally got to the new trail to hike back to the parking lot, we passed several gigantic trees that would have completely blocked the trail, but they were newly sawed and we could pass right through.
