Write Up:
It was kind of chilly this morning so we stopped standing around and got underway exactly on time at 7:35 to start warming up.  It didn't take long for the chill to wear off as we ascended Big Kennesaw for 800 feet.  Around the first cannon there was a Confederate reenactor building a fire and cooking a pound of bacon in a dutch oven hanging over the fire.  I talked to him for a few minutes.  He said that the rock that I call General French's Rock off of the top of Little Kennesaw, he calls Texas Rock.  He said that there is a faint carving of Texas on the rock.  I need to try and find that sometime.  By the time I started heading down Pigeon Hill to Burnt Hickory Road, some of the speedsters were already beginning the trek back.  After a small break, the rest of us started back ourselves.  It was a cool clear day and you could see for miles and miles in all directions.  It's so nice hiking on these types of days.  I think everyone got the workout they were looking for.  I got to cut the grass when I got back, so I got a double.
