Sun, Dec 6 2020 - Fall Cochran Shoals to Sope Creek (View Original Event Details)

Trip Leader(s): Oscar
Participants:Oscar, Joyce T., Lynn O., Stacey, Shirley W, Lee W, Amy E, Jeff Gimpel

Write Up:

The 9 am morning air was quite chilly, with most of us layered and gloved; however, the trail up to the cemetery provided plenty of elevation to get our heart rates up and our bodies warmed. In 2.5 hours, we did a large loop in Sope Creek and enjoyed a few minutes viewing at the old ruins. Instead of turning right at the connector trail to Cochran Shoals, we did a repeat loop in Sope Creek. Then we took the long, seemingly endless west side biking trail in the middle Cochran Shoals unit, which took us all the way to the creek. We skirted the creek to get to the gravel path, where we hiked the remaining distance to the parking lot - - a 7.5 mile jaunt!

Thanks to Lee and Oscar for their photos!
