The morning was sunny and cold with the temperature in the mid 20’s and ending with temperature in the mid 30’s. It did not take long for us to warm up as we moved up Pigeon Hill. We encountered ice in several stops on the trail that slowed us down a little. The worst of these was toward the top of Pigeon. There were also spots as we hike up Little Kennesaw and Kennesaw Mountains. I don’t see any ice coming down the mountains or on Brumby Trail.

The hike proceeded from the Burnt Hickory parking lot up Pigeon Hill to Little Kennesaw than to Kennesaw Mountain and the Visitor Center. After a quick break and a history lesson on the only Naval Cannon in the park, we proceeded back via Brumby Trail.
