The weather was spectacular as our group met for our Tuesday Trails hike at Island Ford.  The skies were blue, the sun was shining and the temperature was just right.  Many of us left our jackets in the car as the sun provided much warmer temperatures than previous days.

We followed the trails along the side of the Chattahoochee River and could still see signs of the damage from the recent floods.  There were a lot of trees still down and a soft brown-colored muck covered much of the brush and ground.  Fortunately we didn't experience any slippery spots and much of the trail seemed dry.

There were several Canadian geese and a few Mallard ducks dotted along the river enjoying the nice day.  A fly fisherman cast his line into the high river to try his luck at catching trout.  We could hear a couple of red-tailed hawks high above the canopy of trees as we hiked further into the woods.

We traveled along the trails and emerged into another area where we stopped to enjoy the view at a nearby pond.  Although the blue heron and dragonflies were no where to be found, there were a couple of box turtles who popped up to say hello.  After pausing to enjoy the scenery a bit more, we continued on and finished up our hike.

It was a beautiful day to get out and enjoy the blue skies together on a Tuesday Trail.
