Write Up:
Other than taking a wrong turn and heading toward Woody Gap for a minute, just about everything was perfect on this hike. We started up towards Blood Mountain on the AT around 3:45 PM on this clear, unseasonably warm day. The first group arrived at the summit a bit before 5:00 PM, and the final person, who was promised a dinner buffet, made it by ten after. Other than a few clouds on the horizon, it was a clear day. Everybody ate their dinner and then watched the sunset. Camera were agoing by many participants. It was a little cooler too so everybody put their jackets on. Shortly after the 5:26 sunset, everybody put on their headlamps and we headed down. About halfway down it was dark and the moonrise was late that night. So we spent about 10 minutes looking at the stars under the clear sky. Nobody wanted to leave, but we had to as most people had to work the next day. It was about another mile to the parking lot and arrived back at our cars shortly after seven.
