Thick clouds but no rain awaited us for our hike at Gold Branch.  We did the spokes instead of the perimeter of the park which guaranteed us 4 different climbs along the way.  We saw lots of Trillium and other plants starting to come alive for spring.  We also saw an old stone wall and other evidence of farming activities that occured on the property in the 1900s.  The highlight of the hike though was a Juvenile Bald Eagle we saw perched on a tree branch above the trail we were hiking down near the river.

On the way back to the parking lot, we had another treat when we ran into our old friend Dan C who was out doing his own hike at Gold Branch.  We reached our cars in about 2 hours, concluding our 4.5 mile hike.  A special welcome to Sophia A who was on her very first AOC event, Welcome Sophia and we look forward to seeing you on future AOC events.  ~  Holt
