The swirling mists and occasional fat raindrops which surrounded us from Lake Winflied Scott to Jarrard Gap finally gave way to blue sky as we ascended Turkey Stamp and we enjoyed brilliant views as we traversed across the Freeman Trail.  The clouds came and went across the face of Blood Mountain, and finally cleared again to allow us the scenic vista from the summit.  March being the season, we passed numerous AT northbounders, and also encountered a determined duo making the hike from Neels Gap to Amicalola Falls.  A Piliated Woodpecker made a brief appearance, demonstrating his craft.  The descent down the Slaughter Creek Trail passed too quickly.  The rain did not find us that afternoon, and we completed our hike in only 4.5 hours.
