Write Up:

It was sunny and warmed up fast. We met at the Powers Island parking lot and walked over to Cochran Shoals to for the distance. At 8:15 there was a line of cars waiting to park with no parking spaces. We took the trail across the swamp zigzagged up and down the hills until we returned to the gravel road and stopped briefly at the Columns Drive parking lot. We returned to the Interstate North parking lot and crossed the river again. There we followed the trail from the north east end of the Powers Island parking lot until it ended and returned by the trail following the river. At 10:30 the Powers Island parking lot was less than 50% full. The Poison Ivy was very heavy. We saw more of it on the Powers Island trails than the Cochran Shoals trails. I have posted several pictures of English Ivy and Poison Ivy fighting for the same tree. To me it appears the English Ivy is winning. Does anyone have any comments or has anyone seen this before?

I would like to recognize Keith for joining us on his third hike.
