Happy Memorial Day, Everyone!
We all sported patriotic bandanas today, worn in every which way! And we had the parking deck to ourselves this morning! Parking was certainly not a problem. (Getting TO the parking deck was challenging for one member, but eventually we all found the deck and we started the hike on time.)

Starting from this location made it a brand new hike for most. We took trails we had never before been on, and we found some very challenging hills as well! Until we got to the gravel path at Cochran Shoals, we saw almost no one on our secluded route. And except for a couple of muddy patches, the trails were completely dry.

It's a day to keep in mind that we all are free to enjoy these beautiful trails because of the sacrifices of soldiers whose lives were given to protect our freedom. For that, we are deeply grateful. ~ Joyce
