Sat, Oct 9 2021 - Kennesaw 9 Miles with 2 passes (View Original Event Details)|
Wow, what a wonderful morning we had. The day started off a bit cloudy and overcast, with most of the overlooks revealing dark and brooding skies. But soon the sun peeked through the clouds, and by the time we were making our way back over Little Kennesaw and Kennesaw Mountains, the sun had chased all the clouds away.
We traded smiles and friendly nods with fellow hikers near the summits. Once we got over to the other side of Burnt Hickory, we had some time with the trail all to ourselves. Delicate purple wildflowers - late bloomers? - dotted the paths. Lots of green encroached onto the trail, evidence of recent heavy rainfall. Oh! and we got to see two beautiful horses up close. Overall, it was a most excellent day on the trail, with amazing company, interesting conversation, and the joyful majesty of nature.
