FLEXIBILITY is the name of today's game! Dan and Joyce arrived early at the parking deck for today's hike, and it was a good thing we did! We discovered that the deck was closed for parking today (due to some repair work, we think). So Plan B was immediately put into operation! Powers Island wasn't far from where we were supposed to park, so as cars arrived at the deck, instructions were given for getting to Powers Island. The few that weren't familiar with the area used a GPS or followed me once everyone had been notified. (This, by the way, is a good reason for arriving at all AOC events 10 minutes before the hike is to start. Ya' just never know!) Believe it or not, all 15 of us gathered at the Powers Island parking lot within minutes of our 10 am start time! Every person in the group was terrific in going with the change and making everything run smoothly.

We HAD to have this hike, because it was Dawn's 100th AOC event, and we were determined to celebrate her first centennial event with her! The plan for the hike was slightly altered, but it worked out just fine. Once we crossed the river in Cochran Shoals Intestate North, we were on our way to a challenging workout with more hills than originally planned. We got in a superb workout this morning! (For those who are unfamiliar with the Interstate North section of Cochran Shoals, it's the most challenging of the three sections, with the trails off-limits to bikes.)

Dawn was so happy to complete her 100th event today that so she brought refreshments for the group to enjoy after the hike! Lemonade, brownies, cheese and crackers! Most of us stayed around an extra 15 minutes to enjoy the food and the company.

Congratulations on getting this first milestone event under your belt, Dawn! And thank you for arranging it on a day that we could celebrate with you! ~ Joyce
