Write Up:

The hike began with the usual gathering of AOC members at the parks Visitor Center at 8:00AM. Shortly after, we began our ascent to the top of Kennesaw Mountain. This portion can be the toughest as you immediately begin a 700ft climb to the summit. We rested for a moment then continued down to Pigeon Hill and stopped at the Burnt Hickory Road parking area. The group voted to keep going and hiked an additional 2-3 miles. The addition brought us to the East of Pigeon Hill where we reconnected with the main trail and began our return to the top of Little Kennesaw Mountain over to Kennesaw Mountain and down to the Visitor Center. As usual the group hiked with enthusiasm and we all had a great time getting to know one another. Total hike distance was estimated around 7.5 to 8.0 miles. Great big thanks to Danny for once again providing a great hiking experience! - Steven Redmond (Co-lead)

This was a very strong group today, and they were willing to hike in the rain!  - Danny
