Mon, Feb 27 2023 - Monday Morning at Pine Log Creek Trail (View Original Event Details)
As often happens, the heavy rain predicted for the morning got pushed into the afternoon, so we had a very successful hike. There was one patch of mist that was so light, it didn't warrant any rain gear, so I don't even count it as rain. There was also the forecast of high winds, but again, we dodged that concern.
Joyce led the first part of the hike up the most strenuous part of the West Trail, turning the lead over to Holt for our hike around the East Trail. When we reached the quarry, Holt took us up a side trail to the top of the rock frog/gator so that we could look down at the pone - - an interesting perspective for all of us.
As we hiked the East Trail, we came across Tom, a 92 year old man that has been hiking at Pine Log Creek almost every day for years. He joined our group to the quarry and answered many questions from our group.
After the hike, eleven of us headed to SWheat's Market and Deli for lunch, only to find that it was closed due to staffing problems! But all was not lost - - the group settled for The Mellow Mushroom across the street and enjoyed a great lunch.
Thanks to Dan C. for his additional photos that have been added to the album. ~ Joyce
