Gold Branch has become one of the most technical of the CRNRA trails due to extreme erosion which exposes roots that become easy foot-catchers and grabbers.; and then, there's the rocky section by Bull Sluice Lake. Despite the challenges, our cozy little group took the trails well, marveling at the beauty of the blossoming flowers and the high, clear water along the trail. We hiked several of the inner hills plus the entire circumference of the park, giving us about 4.6 miles in 2 hours . . . a moderate pace, but just fine for our outing.
