Wow – what a strong group! You guys ROCK! Thank you Tanja for your excellent co-lead. And thank you to Andrew, John, Jim, Alan, Bindu, Helena, Scott, Armin, Niki, Steve, Gary and Patricia!

What a great day to be on the Appalachian Trail. We took on the heart of the AT here in Georgia with a 16+ mile hike from Unicoi Gap to Dick’s Creek Gap. Beginning right away with a climb to the top of Rocky Mountain, followed by Tray Mountain, this group hiked with enthusiasm. Most groups turn around at Tray and head back down – but not this group – we were in it to win it - and continued on through the Swag of the Blueridge! We even had an AT thru-hiker jump in with us to enjoy the energetic pace. The group really enjoyed meeting the thru-hikers along the way and wishing them well on their incredible journey. After a quick break at Addis Gap it was time to take on the climb to the top of Kelly Knob. This group was up to the challenge and made this notorious climb look easy! From this point it was a straight shot to Dick’s Creek Gap. Near the end several members made a quick side trip to a very nice overlook to the east with views of Lake Burton… (a very memorable stop!)

What a special day. This group got a big dose of America’s Trail, the great AT! The thru hikers along with the real heroes the trail – the maintenance crews – and great weather made this a hike to remember.
