We didn't get quite the mileage we usually do because there was so much to see! The turtle in the lagoon, the deer running through the woods, David Vickers stopping his solo hike to greet us, and that amazing Barred Owl that held our attention for several minutes - - until we finally had to be on our way. Even Toby cooling off in the stream below didn't spook the owl. It's gotten very used to hikers on the trail.

It was great to have Michael Collins back with us on our Thursday morning hike. He does a lot of traveling, but he always comes back to join us when he's in town. He's one of the few remaining members who was on our very first Thursday morning hike almost 9 years ago.

Christina joined our Thursday morning group for the first time today. She did just fine.

George left everyone in his dust as he made his assault on the warm-up hill. Laurie and Russ weren't too far behind, and we had no stragglers at all today.
