The weather was perfect for hiking and a nice wind to keep us cool, we did introductions in the parking lot. We had four new members and were celebrating Joyce’s 2600^th event. The concern I had going into this event was that everyone said it was just over 2 miles from Burnt Hickory Road to Whitlock Avenue. Wrong answer, it is 1.4 miles. Thus, to get to the 4.5 miles posted, I added distance by crossing Whitlock Avenue going to the John Ward Trail where we sail a lot of clothing thrown across the trail. We then took the Hardage Mill Trail to the New Salem Church Trail, stopped at the sign that said the trail was closed and returned to the parking lot for 4.6 miles.
