What a perfect morning for a hike, especially when it's great weather and we have a fantastic group of hikers! Our latest addition (on her first AOC event), Marianne, is a terrific young lady who will endear herself to everyone she meets. Thanks to Holt's co-leading, he attracted several of his close fellow members to the hike, and we had a great assortment of veteran hikers whose presence is like having brothers and sisters along. In short, it was a wonderful hike.

We stayed inside the Sope Creek unit, following the directional signs that sent us on a counter-clockwise route around the unit. We included some heart-pounding ascents, and we took in two sides of the creek to see both the pulp mill (Holt clarified any misunderstanding about what those ruins were about) and the paper mill on the far side of Sope Creek. Holt's historical information about the ruins provided great facts to enlighten the group. ~ Joyce
