Write Up:

We had a great group of ten hikers, and great weather, for my first Decatur urban hike. We hiked through the Old Sycamore neighborhood, then through Glenwood Estates to the back entrance to Glenlake Park. After circling the park and taking advantage of the cemetery view from the hill, we wandered along the creek to the cemetery and entered right below the oldest part. We saw graves of Revolutionary War veterans, notorious duel participants, and small children who died at the Methodist Children's Home that is now Decatur's Legacy Park. We saw two city champion trees (I missed a third), and then passed through the Great Lakes, Lamont, and several other neighborhoods before heading to the Square. There we enjoyed refreshments and food together. It was so much fun I'll do it again, or something like it.
