Revisiting Pine Log Creek after more than a year was so nice. It was still winter on the trail, so very few leaves were visible on the trees, allowing us to see the distant landscape as we hiked. We tackled the hilly West Trail first, saving the beautiful East Trail quarry pond for the second half of the hike.
The quarry pond was stunning today, with striking green water, and lots of fish to see once we threw in some Ritz Crackers. We spent an enjoyable 15 minutes or so at the pond, relaxing and taking in the beautiful sights.
We were happy to have two brand new members with us today - - Bruce and Sharon - - a delightful couple who joined Mike and me for lunch after the hike at SWheat's Market & Deli. (Great food!)
The day was perfect for this hike, and we saw quite a few other folks on the trails. Just as we were leaving, a very large group of mushroom seekers arrived, hoping to find some delectables in the area. We saw lots of ferns, trillium, and other plants, but none of us spotted a single mushroom. Maybe those folks were successful - - but I doubt it! ~ Joyce
