Wed, May 1 2024 - Locust Log Ridge and Brasstown Bald (View Original Event Details)

We had a small group, perhaps because this may be the toughest D5 hike that AOC does. Nevertheless, we conquered the initial climb on the Arkaquah Trail to recover while we crossed Locust Log Ridge. That relatively level section left us feeling strong for our climb to Brasstown Bald. In the end we had climbed 3,720 feet over 12.46 miles. We all finished with a feeling of accomplishment (and sore feet!). But our work was rewarded by partial views along the length of Locust Log Ridge, and then beautiful 360 degree views of North Georgia and parts of South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. A great hike!
