The heavy rain that pummeled the park the half hour before our hike gave way to glorious blue skies and sunshine as we started our walk to the boardwalk. How lucky we were! Though our group was small, it was an important hike toward getting Shirley to her 400th event on Monday. We had to get it in!

We were all very shocked to see Julie arrive with her arm in a sling. Unfortunately, she broke her arm high toward the wrist and will soon be having surgery to repair it. (Pickle-ball accident.) Unfortunately, it's her dominant hand, so she'll have a lot of difficulty doing some things for a while. One good thing is that she can drive with just one hand!

We had to make a stop during our hike to allow our members to register for an upcoming hike next week. All were able to get registered.

As we walked, two waves of dark clouds passed over us, threatening to drench us before we could get back to the parking lot. Luck, however, continued to be with us, and we got through the hike nice and dry.
