We met briefly at the Trading Post and caravanned to the Iron Hill Trail Parking Lot. This was a very large caravan of two cars and three members. Initially we had concerns about there being enough parking spaces due to the large number of cars there on a Tuesday morning. We did find parking spaces, the new parking lot at the end of the parking lot was closed.
We did introductions at the end of the parking lot and walked to the new trail head. We started at the parking lot then hiked in a clockwise direction stopping at three spurs to walk to the shoreline and could not help but notice how high the water level was. I want to show Fran the iron mining pit. The trail was so overgrown we proceeded only a few feet before turning around. We encountered a baby deer, see the pictures. Due to the high-water level this time of year we were not able to walk along the shore.
The temperature was great for hiking. We had a wind during a large portion of the hike that kept the humidity down.
