This Gypsum Crawl Overnight package consists of the AOC spelunking (cave exploring) in Americas second largest cave,Cumberland Caverns. Thistrip involves sightseeing in the fully lighted portions of Cumberland Caverns. The Cumberland Caverns have over 32 miles of passageway, hundreds of rooms, cave formations and underground waterfalls to explore. The Gypsum Crawl trip includesthe spelunking route which begins at the Devils Quarry and encounters such infamous places as the Lemon Squeezer and Bubble Gum Alley. You will encounter several tight squeezes and lots of crawling. The trip beginsat 5:30 PM CST (Saturday) and end the following morning at 8:30 AM CST (Sunday). The carpool will leave Atlanta at about noon on Saturday todrive the 3.5 to 4 hours. Please eat lunch prior to showing up at the carpool or carry your lunch with you for on the road.

You are responsible for providing your own sack dinner, but we will have coolers to keep the food chilled if you donot have one of your own. We will eat our packed dinners at the picnic shelter located on the grounds at 4 PM CST. Everyone mustbe checked in at Cumberland Caverns by 5:30 PM CST. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING FOOD WITH YOU IN THE CAVERN. There will bea snack food vendor at the final resting place in the caverns.

The following morning, you will receive a continental breakfast at 7:30 AM CST, provided by the outfitter.

The outfitter considers this trip strenuous, but we are certain most of the AOC members would be fine on this trip, even if your first time. Theoutfitter just wants to make sure that there are no persons seriously out of shape, with any sort of illness or handicap, or greatly overweight. This trip is not suggested for persons who have or have had heart conditions, severe respiratory conditions, knee or back problems, recent surgeries, and claustrophobia. The tightestcrawling space is only 11 inches high (you will test out a simulation prior to the cave to be allowed on the trip). If you are claustrophobic, this trip is also not recommended to you.

Dont let the fact that this trip will be a little straining on you, deter you from being interested. Theres always a first time for everything andas always, AOC trips are a blast. Since this is in conjunction with an outfitter, they will give basic instructions before entering the cave.

Once the trip is completed, youll be departing the area at about 9 AM CST, possibly grabbing lunch on the road (please bring money to pay for your meal). Youll be returning to Atlanta in mid-afternoon on Sunday.
