Write Up:
We had a great time and were blessed with near perfect weather for this event.  We started out with Bell Knob and it was a tough little hike going up in the summer humidity, even though it had cooled off a good bit.  We spent about 2 hrs at the top...just enjoying the views and climbing up and down the rocks.  Some clouds in the way prevented an ideal sunset but did get some nice colors as the sun dropped behind the clouds.

From there we headed to Brasstown Bald and basically had clear skies the entire night..and very mild temperatures too.  Of course you wouldn't expect August in GA to be "cold", but it can get pretty cool up there in the early morning hours.

But with the clear skies, we could lay back and enjoy the meteor shower...saw scores of them for sure.  We arrived at BB at around 11pm ... just got comfy and relaxed in the huge parking lot.  Charlie brought his telescope and we were able to see Jupiter and three of its moons...very cool.  Most of us walked to the top for a bit...the main trail was closed so we just walked up the road and it worked better as we could look for meteors while doing so.  We finally all headed home at about 3am...a long night but well worth it.
