Wow that was a great hike...definitely a hot one, but the air was surprisingly clear and not hazy like the last time we were up there.  Just beautiful deep blue sky the entire time.  When we started out on the trail at about 5:30, it was still in the low 90s and very humid.  But we took our time and drank a lot of water and slowly worked our way higher.   After a quick stop at the Boulder a few of us went to the climbing wall.  "McMegan" conquered her fears and did great, once again taking it to a higher level.

We then hiked to the top and took a long break at that photo spot overlook...a few of us posed there for some nice shots.  We headed for the actual summit next and then to the south overlook.  Great views but the big red ants are back at Yonah for the summer and they were just everywhere on the rocky parts...just swarming over many areas.

We headed for the west overlook and had a great view of the sun just dropping behind Blood Mountain again....and then just causing the mountain to appear to be glowing...just a halo effect of sorts (see pics coming soon).  We stayed there for maybe 30 min and battled the ants the whole time...unfortunately they won, but they did have us grossly outnumbered.

But headlamps came out and we headed down to the parking area.  We did a little stargazing there with Angela's Android app and then headed for home...another good one...Yonah never disappoints.   - Tony C
