Sat, Sep 28 2024 - Saturday Morning at Leita Thompson Memorial Park (View Original Event Details)

It wasn't a bright, sunny, day for sure, but we were lucky that we had no rain despite the heavy gray clouds that hung overhead for all of the hike. We were fortunate, too, to be on trails that drained well, so that we had only a couple of muddy sections that were easy to walk around.
We were happy to meet two newcomers to the AOC: Sandra, on her 2nd event, and Sean on his sixth. We hope to see a lot more of them on AOC events.
Those of us who have hiked up to Leita Thompson's first home were surprised to see a big fence protecting a gigantic cell tower. Has it always been there, but was obliterated by trees?
We also passed by Leita Thompson's second home, where a giant tree has fallen across the driveway and onto the house itself. How sad that her old homestead is slowly being destroyed.
Lee caught a couple of Joro spider photos, and added some nice photos of the group to the album. ~ Joyce
