It was a beautiful but challenging day for us at Vogel State Park. Blue skies and sunshine abounded as we enjoyed panoramic views from the top of Blood Mountain. After working our way uo the Bear Hair Trail to the Duncan Ridge Trail we continued NOBO on the AT until summitting just before lunch. Next we headed northbound and down to the Freeman Trail, which was rocky and slow. Coming back to the other side of Blood Mountain, we headed up a different stretch of the AT until the reached the DRT and then eaded down Coosa and back into Vogel. This twisty-turny route included over a dozen trail intersections!

We're happy to report that the new Visitors Center at Vogel is progressing and might be finished by summertime.
