A great morning for our hike at Island Ford. A magnificent dozen put in about 5 miles as we took some different routes through the park. We skipped both the warmup hill and the lollipop trail, favoring staying inside the main section of the park.
We were treated to a pair of herons together in the creek - - a rare sight. One definitely seemed like a young one compared to the larger bird.
The leaves on the trail are beautiful but dangerous, obscuring the trail itself as well as hidden dangers (nuts, roots, rocks, and holes). Poles are helpful, for sure!
