Fri, Nov 22 2024 - Kennesaw Mountain Kolb Farm Loop Plus (View Original Event Details)
|
The morning started cool and sunny; the temperature stayed in the low to high 40’s for the entire hike. We had several hikers that had not had the opportunity to experience this part of KMNBP. We left the parking lot headed south on the Kolb’s Farm West Trail until we came to Powder Springs Street. There we picked up the Kolb’s Farm East Trail, we stopped to talk about a social trail, at another point we talked about how 40 years ago one part of the trail was a underwater causing the park to build a trail on higher ground, and the new bridge to replace two bridges on this part of the trail (hopefully in 2025). We proceeded to the Illinois monument and the restrooms. Leaving the restrooms, we followed the Cease Fire Trail to the Old John Ward Trail. We turned left on the Old John Ward Road Trail and returned to the parking lot. Overall, a beautiful day for hiking.
Thanks to Sarah for joining us on her first event, Stephen for joining us on his third event, and Gwen for joining us on her fifth event.
