Mon, Mar 17 2025 - Kennesaw Mountain Kolb Farm Loop Plus (View Original Event Details)
| ![]() |
The morning started a bit cool and sunny and very windy; the temperature started in the high 40’s and was in mid 50’s at the end. We had several hikers that had not had the opportunity to experience this part of KMNBP. We left the parking lot headed south on the Kolb’s Farm West Trail until we came to Powder Springs Street. There we picked up the Kolb’s Farm East Trail, we stopped to talk about a social trail, at another point we talked about how 50 years ago one part of the trail was underwater causing the park to build a trail on higher ground, and the new bridge to replace two bridges on this part of the trail (hopefully in 2025). We proceeded to the Illinois monument and the restrooms. We planned on stopping at the restrooms; however, they were closed. Skipping restroom break we followed the Cease Fire Trail to the Old John Ward Trail. We turned left on the Old John Ward Road Trail and returned to the parking lot. Overall, it was a beautiful day for hiking.
Thanks to Veronica for joining us on her seventh hike and Shirley for joining us on her ninth hike. After 10 you become an old timer.
Mike
