Write Up:Members of the Atlanta Outdoor Club were among the hundreds who attended the Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy (CNPC) fundraising event on Tuesday in Roswell. Since 2012, CNPC has been the official friend group and primary philanthropic partner of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA). Our national parks (including CRNRA) are home to some of the country’s most beautiful terrains and landmarks, but have faced a lack of federal funding for years. The CNPC attempts to provide much-needed funding in areas needed most at our parks. During Tuesday's event, President Jimmy Carter was awarded the Hightower Award for his efforts to protect our parks. His grandson, Josh, accepted the award in honor of his late grandfather. The evening was a beautiful gathering of like-minded individuals who are dedicated to preserving our country's national parks.
