Write Up:

We had a perfect sunny day for hiking today at Island Ford CRNRA. The temperatures ranged from the mid 40's to the mid 50's during the hike. We were wearing jackets while we hiked the lollipop trail, but loaded them into our cars when we got back to the Island Ferry parking lot before continuing on down the trail to Hewlett Pond and the Visitor Center. 15 hikers travelled 6.3 miles with a little over 600 feet in elevation, averaging 2.7 mph while moving. We did have an extended stay at the visitor center while most everyone availed themselves of the facilities. We saw a bunch of turtles at the pond, some of them being really big. The trails were in pretty good shape considering all the rain we had yesterday.

We welcomed Robbie and Yvonne for the second AOC hike.  They have fit in very well with our hiking groups. We also welcomed Laura on her 8th AOC hike. It won't be long before she graduates from newbiehood.

A special thanks to Joyce and Lee for providing us with pictures of the hike. You can view them by clicking the icon at above right.
